For women only. Join Tavis Smiley and an all-woman panel of forward thinking experts for a conversation on the growing number of women and children falling into poverty. Let’s face it, we all know someone in or near poverty. This conversation will provide hope, inspiration, and information to help you personally or to be of help to someone you know.
Invited and confirmed panelists include: Nely Galán, founder, The Adelante Movement; Dr. Julianne Malveaux, economist and president, Bennett College; Suze Orman, America’s leading authority on personal finance; Susan Sarandon, Award-winning actress and human rights activist; Hilda Solis, 25th United States Secretary of Labor; Cecelia FireThunder, former president of the Oglala Sioux Tribe; Faye Wattleton, former national president of Planned Parenthood; Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers; Sheryl WuDunn, Pulitzer Prize–winning writer and co-author of Half the Sky with New York Times columnist Nicolas Kristoff.
C-SPAN will be taping the conversation which will also broadcast for three nights on Tavis Smiley on PBS beginning Wednesday, March 28 through Friday, March 30. Additionally, the dialogue will continue during The Tavis Smiley Show from Public Radio International (PRI).
